Asbury Park Zen Center is a Sōtō Zen Buddhist Organization in the lineage of Eihei Dogen Daiosho, founder of the Sōtō Zen School in Japan. Shunryu Suzuki Roshi founded the San Francisco Zen Center.

Founder

Myoshin Roshi

Myoshin Roshi is a fully transmitted Sōtō Zen Buddhist teacher, and Dharma holder. He received Dharma transmission (Shiho) from Kotatsu John Bailes, founder of One Heart Zen. Kotatsu received Dharma transmission (Shiho) from Zoketsu Norman Fischer, founder of Everyday Zen, and former abbot of the San Francisco Zen Center.

Mission

Our mission is to further the spread of Sōtō Zen Buddhist teaching (Dharma), train individuals in seated-meditation (zazen),  and provide a venue for a community (sangha) of people to practice Zen in the Sōtō tradition.
